Frida Kahlo

Mexican artist Frida Kahlo is remembered for her self-portraits, pain and passion, and bold, vibrant colours. Frida had a lot of suffering in her life with a back story that includes childhood polio, a tumultuous love life, a tragic accident that left her with severe pain and disability. Inspired by the country's popular culture, she employed a naïve folk-art style to explore questions of identity, postcolonialism, gender, class and race in Mexican society.
